The Boys of Yellowstone

$1,485.00

The Boys of Yellowstone was inspired by Helen's time camping in Montana's Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains, where she heard wolves calling in the wilderness. Hearing them in their natural environment left a lasting impression, and the challenge of capturing that experience on canvas stayed with her.

The painting brings together the strength, character and wild spirit of these magnificent animals against the rugged Yellowstone landscape.

For Helen, the work also reflects the remarkable story of wolves returning to Yellowstone. After being absent from the park for decades, wolves were reintroduced in 1995, restoring an important apex predator to the ecosystem. Their return has influenced the wider food web, including elk behaviour and grazing patterns, vegetation and biodiversity — a fascinating example of the interconnectedness of a natural ecosystem.

What began with the sound of wolves calling through the Montana wilderness became a painting not only about the animals themselves, but about their place within the landscape they inhabit.

  • Medium: Painting / Acrylic / Finished with Satin Varnish

  • Dimensions: 122cm W x 91cm H

  • Unframed / Ready to Hang
